Pros: Slim body. Lightning-fast boot-up time. Variety of useful in-camera editing options.
Cons: Expensive. Limited feature set. Long lag time between shots. Daylight shots slightly muted. Significant barrel distortion. Mediocre face-detection performance.
Verdict: The Nikon Coolpix S600 is a capable and speedy basic point-and-shooter. But at $300, it should offer more than a bare-bones feature set and so-so performance.

Verdict: Despite a number of good points such as start up time, ease of use and shutter lag times I felt this camera did not hit the spot when it came to picture quality.

Pros: Good build, Nice design, Great macro performance, Good colour rendition
Cons: Poor noise performance in noise test, Wrong f number selected in landscape, Don't like the plastic lens cover leaves
Verdict: The styling suggests a camera designed for the happy snapper while some of the features such as the build quality and 3cm macro feature lean towards the user looking to get that bit extra out of a camera
