      How to Buy a Point

      By David Gussman

Review summary: If you're as concerned about how your camera looks as you're snapping shots as you are with the shots themselves, you'll love Sony's $299.99 8-megapixel Cyber-shot DSC-T70. This well-designed ultracompact turns heads with its good looks, but it also offer

Pros: Nice features for the price. 3-inch (widescreen) touch-screen LCD. Lots of in-camera editing options. Effective Smile Shutter mode.

Cons: Doesn't excel in low-light shooting situations. High ISO settings turn out very dark photos. No custom white balance.

Verdict: This slim and snazzy Cyber-shot packs a big 3-inch touch-screen LCD and offers plenty of features and good overall picture quality.

      Sony DSC-T70 Review

      By Greg Adler

Review summary: The DSC-T70 looks flashy, but its image quality leaves room for improvement, and we found its touchscreen frustrating to use.

Pros: High ISO capability Can shoot in 16-by-9 format

Cons: Touchscreen controls hard to press

Verdict: One limitation of the camera is that it has no manual white balance setting--only presets

      Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T70 review

      By Gordon Laing

Review summary: The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T70 is a stylish compact that's packed with fun technology. The slim body looks great and the sliding cover for the non-extending lens has a very satisfying tactile motion as it snaps up and down. Touch screens aren't new to Sony,

Pros: 7x optical zoom gives relatively long reach., Lens doesn't extend from body., Lens can zoom while filming video., Sharpness, contrast and saturation controls., , , Slim body with non-extending lens., 3in touch-screen monitor., Smile Shutter mode rea

Cons: No optical or sensor-shift stabilisation., Poor results in our resolution test., No true wide angle or alignment grid., More compelling rivals., , , Pedestrian 38-114mm lens range., Noise and compression artefacts throughout., Smile Shutter more fun

Verdict: There's no denying the Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T70 is a desirable-looking compact with some neat features. Sony's distinctive styling and unique gadgetry will see it immediately appeal to some people. And to be fair the gadgets are pretty good - the touch-scr

Review summary: The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T70 is one fast snapper. With this 8.1-megapixel compact, shutter lag is non-existent, so you can start shooting the minute you hit the button. With 10 scene modes and features including 'smile shutter', you'll get crisp images in

Pros: Classy styling; giant touchscreen interface; non-existent shutter lag; decent battery life

Cons: Pointless 'smile shutter' feature; clunky zoom control

Verdict: If touchscreen compacts are for you, then the classy Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T70 is for you. One of the comeliest compacts we've seen for a while, and respectably-featured with it. Pictures are decent, the shutter is fast enough to take your hand off and did
